A Resolution of the City of Coral Gables authorizing the City Manager to purchase a Dealer Demonstrator Isuzu Emergency Rescue Truck from Custom Trucks & Body Works, Inc., the Sole Source Vendor, in the amount of $80,000.00 pursuant to Procurement Code, section 2-770 "Sole Source Procurement". This vehicle is a replacement air truck to refill the breathing air cylinders for the Coral Gables Fire Department. (Funded by the Automotive Fund.)
Recommendation of the City Manager
It is recommended that the City Commission accept the recommendation of the City Manager to purchase a Dealer Demonstrator Isuzu Emergency Rescue Truck from Custom Trucks & Body Works, Inc., the Sole Source Vendor.
Brief History
The Fire Department has a need for a replacement air truck to refill the breathing air cylinders for the firefighters.
On January 29, 2009, an opportunity to purchase a Dealer Demonstrator Isuzu Rescue Truck with approximately 3,000 miles presented to the City.
The City negotiated with Custom Trucks & Body Works Inc. in Woodbury, GA the purchase price of said Rescue Truck (Vin # JALESW16387901569) to be $94,995.00 less negotiated discount of $14,995.00 for a total price of $80,000.00.
The City's Automotive Director and Fire Chief attest that this Rescue Truck meets the needs of the department with a cost savings of over $200,000 and recommend the purchase of said vehicle.
