Resolution authorizing an amendment to the October 2, 2006, “Addendum to Solid Waste and Recycling Collection Service Contract between The City of Coral Gables and Waste Management Inc. of Florida”.

On June 5, 2000 the City entered into a Solid Waste and Recycling Collection Service Contract with Waste Management Inc. of Florida for solid waste and recycling services for the City for five years, under Resolution No. 29954, for a term commencing October 1, 2000 and continuing for a five-year period ending on September 30, 2005.
On October 2, 2006, the City executed an Addendum to Solid Waste and Recycling Collection Service Contract with Waste Management Inc. of Florida for recycling and solid waste services for the City for a period ending September 30, 2010.
This amendment to the contract will change the franchise fees from 18 to 22 percent for the period of October 1, 2009 to September 30, 2010, which is comparable to City of Miami, and will generate $290,000 of additional annual revenue.
These additional revenues are included in the 2009-2010 Annual Budget.
