George was also in the group that joined us as a Firefighter Recruit in May 1988 and became a Firefighter in May 1989. A few months later, in September 1989, he acquired his State Paramedic Certification and in January 1990 was assigned as a Paramedic, riding rescue. George completed advanced training classes to further his knowledge, performance and career. His hard work paid off when he was promoted to Fire Lieutenant in June 1996. In addition, to enhance his skills, George passed the Fire Inspector Exam and received his certificate of compliance; and a short time later acquired his Associate's Degree in 2002. In October of 2007 his dedication and persistence paid off again by placing at the top of the Captain's promotional list. In March 2008 Lieutenant Valladares was promoted to the rank of Captain.
Captain Valladares displays the fine ability of leading by example. He has earned the respect and loyalty of subordinates. He accurately prepares, monitors, and controls expenditures at the station and displays a strong sense of purpose with a high level of commitment. Captain Valladares demonstrates a strong ability to identify, analyze and solve problems with good judgment and selects the proper mode of communication.
The City appreciates Captain Valladares' loyalty to his team, profession and the community and looks forward to many years of association.
