Title

A Resolution of the City Commission increasing the fixed rate per 1,000 gallons that the City charges the University of Miami for the collection and disposal of their sanitary sewage and authorizing the execution of a new ten (10) year sewage service and disposal agreement with the University of Miami for the continued collection and disposal of sewage flows from the University’s connection point (Ponce de Leon Boulevard) through the City’s sewage transmission system to the Miami Dade Water and Sewer Department (MDWASD) connection point (Southwest 28th Street and Southwest 38th Avenue).

Body

On July 22, 1996, the City of Coral Gables entered into a Sewage Service and Disposal Agreement with the University of Miami.  This Sewage Service and Disposal Agreement provided for the City to remove and dispose of all sanitary sewage waste, produced or derived from the Coral Gables Campus of the University, delivered to the present sewage meter, or to additional meters or a future master meter located elsewhere, at the same rate charged the City by Miami-Dade Water and Sewer Department, plus a fixed rate of $0.155 per 1,000 gallons.  These rates have not increased since July 1, 2010.

To recover the City’s additional cost of operation, maintenance, administration, insurance, and force main rental, the City has proposed the following rates:

                     From $0.03 to $0.136 per 1,000 gallons for the University’s share of the City’s operation, maintenance, administrative, and insurance costs related to the City’s sewer system;

                     $0.125 to $0.889 per 1,000 gallons for the University’s share of rents for the periodic replacement and upgrade of the 24-inch and 36-inch sections of the City’s force main system.
