Title
Presentation of the 2010 Kiwanis Club of Coral Gables Officer of the Year Award to Officer Scott Selent.
Body
In 1966, the Kiwanis Club of Coral Gables created a program to honor the Coral Gables Police Officer of the Month and the Coral Gables Police Officer of the Year. Nominations from members and employees are received by the Coral Gables Police Department Awards Selection Committee (ASC). The Committee meets on a monthly basis to discuss the nominations and select the Officer of the Month. The Officer of the Month and a guest are then invited to a Kiwanis Club of Coral Gables Luncheon, and presented with a plaque and a check from the Kiwanis Club of Coral Gables, gift certificates from various Coral Gables businesses, and eight (8) hours of annual leave from the City of Coral Gables.
At the end of each year, members and employees may submit to the ASC nominations for Officer of the Year Award. The ASC will take into consideration those nominations and the Officer of the Month nominations submitted throughout the year, for selection of the Officer of the Year Award. Once selected, the Coral Gables Officer of the Year will receive a plaque, check, and invitation to a luncheon for him/her and a guest from the Kiwanis Club of Coral Gables, gift certificates from various Coral Gables businesses, and forty (40) hours of annual leave from the City of Coral Gables.
This is the second highest honor that can be bestowed upon a Coral Gables Police Officer.
