Congratulations to Firefighter David Diaz a recipient of the City of Coral Gables “Firefighter of the Month Award,” for the month of December 2023.

Firefighter Diaz has been selected December’s Firefighter of the Month for his outstanding display of individual initiative surpassing job requirements and expectations, specifically for his hard work and dedication to the department.

 

There is an incredible talent pool within the ranks of our Fire Department.  Firefighter Diaz took the initiative and quickly saved a patient that was choking at one of our restaurants here in the City Beautiful. Rescue 2 responded to a patient choking at Cafe Vialleto. Rescue 2 arrived and while Lt. Simovitch was assessing the patient with Firefighter Santana, Firefighter Diaz took a large piece of steak from the unconscious person's throat within a minute of arrival. The patient had a full recovery and was talking to his family at the hospital.

 

Due to his outstanding work ethic and dedication to the Fire Department, David Diaz is nominated for Firefighter of the month for December 2023.
