Title
Presentation of 20 year service pin to Lt. Bart Barta, Police Department
Body
Bart began his career as a Police Officer with the City in September 1988, after serving two years with the City of Atlanta Police Department.  He was assigned to the Uniform Patrol Division and further assigned to the SWAT Team in November 1989.

He was promoted to rank of Sergeant in January 1992 and soon became the supervisor of the Department's newly created Bicycle Patrol Unit. Bart has also served in the Criminal Investigations Division as the supervisor of the Property Crimes Unit and later the Youth Resources Unit. Bart will tell you to this day that serving as the supervisor of the Department's youth programs is his most meaningful and rewarding assignment, and that he will always cherish the opportunity to mentor at-risk youth and helping them to develop into model citizens. Bart was Officer of the Month two months in a row: August and September 1992.

In December 2004, Bart was promoted to the rank of lieutenant and transferred to the Department's Administrative Division where he was placed in charge of the Accreditation Section.

Currently, Lt. Barta serves as the Police Department's Accreditation Manager where he takes the lead within the Department to maintain our CALEA-accredited status. Congratulations, Bart, on your 20 years of loyal and dedicated service.
