The nomination was given by Sgt. Jose Del Valle, Police Department, who had this to say about Fernando:

“I would like to nominate Police Property Clerk Fernando Figueredo for the City of Coral Gables Employee of the Month Award. Fernando was selected as a Property Clerk in January 2006 and was nominated for the Employee of the Month Award in September 2007 for his outstanding work performance. Unfortunately Fernando was not selected, but his dedication to the mission of the Property and Evidence Section continued. Fernando's innovative ideas and organizational skills resulted in two successful audits by the City's Internal Audit Division for FY 2007 and 2008. Fernando along with the rest of the Property and Evidence Team were nominated and were finalist for the 2009 LEO Support Services Award which is the most prestigious award in Miami-Dade County Law Enforcement. Aside from the above accomplishments above, the purpose for this nomination is what Fernando has done most recently. In November 2008, the Section's other Property Clerk, Audrey Miranda, went on extended maternity leave for a six month period. During this period Fernando worked with management in making sure that the property and evidence function was not affected. Fernando was able to work and coordinate his personal leave with me so that we could maximize the Section's level of service with reduced personnel. Although we were successful in accomplishing this feat it was a temporary measure which came at a personal cost, for him, often having to stay late or come in on weekends to make sure the property and evidence entries were completed and the inventory was accurate.
