Title

Recognition of the City of Coral Gables War Memorial Youth Center Camps and Programs earning National Inclusion Project Accreditation.

Body

The National Inclusion Project serves to bridge the gap that exists between people with disabilities and the world around them. Since 2003, NIP has worked with community organizations and recreational programs, providing them with the training, tools, and support needed to include individuals with disabilities in ALL activities and programs. Accreditation signifies that these programs are gold standard inclusive recreation providers. The city’s War Memorial Youth Center Camps and Programs is one of a total of eight recreation programs who were accredited in the United States in 2023.

"National Inclusion Project Accreditation means that the City of Coral Gables War Memorial Youth Center Camps and Programs have completed a comprehensive review of its inclusive practices for individuals with disabilities and is in alignment with the National Inclusion Project’s Standards for Inclusive Recreation Programs.  Expert review of written documentation, program materials, and on-site observation found that the facility and its programs met the highest standards for including all community members,” said Dr. Amanda Kloo, Director of Inclusive Recreation at NIP.  "The City of Coral Gables War Memorial Youth Center Camps and Programs and NIP form a partnership that promotes belonging, learning, and connection across all abilities.  NIP accreditation communicates that the facility and its programs are committed to the inclusion of individuals with disabilities in mission, in design, and in practice."
