Resolution of the City of Coral Gables authorizing the expenditure in the amount of $12,000.00, from previously encumbered Forfeited Asset Fund (FAF) monies to provide for the summer activities program of the Coral Gables Police Department Police Explorer Post #594.

Pursuant to FSS 932.7055 (5)(c)(3), a local law enforcement agency must expend or donate no less than 15% of State Forfeited Assets for youth resource officer, crime prevention, drug abuse education, and prevention or safe neighborhood programs.
Forfeited Asset Funds were previously encumbered under Resolutions 2007-143 and 2008-102 totaling $47,948.94 to set aside funds for these purposes as required by statute. The distribution of $12,000.00 to the Coral Gables Police Explorer Post #594 will satisfy this statutory requirement.
The requested funds will support Coral Gables Police Explorer Post #594 for its participation in the Annual Florida Explorer Post Summer Conference as well as the Post’s other summer activities.
The Forfeited Asset Fund Committee met on April 2, 2009, and approved this request.
