Battalion Chief Alex Garces has been selected January’s Firefighter of the Month for his outstanding display of individual initiative surpassing job requirements and expectations, specifically for his hard work and dedication to the department.
There is an incredible talent pool within the ranks of our Fire Department. Chief Garces is a 32- year veteran of the Fire Department and has played a key role as Incident Commander for the Special Operations Team, demonstrating exceptional leadership and expertise.
He was selected for his monumental effort in revamping the department’s Standard Operating Guidelines (SOGs) - a critical document guiding emergency operations. Over the past year, his dedication and attention to detail ensured its successful completion, enhancing efficiency and safety across the department.
Due to his outstanding work ethic and dedication to the Fire Department, Chief Alex Garces is nominated for Firefighter of the month for January 2025.
