Title

A Resolution of the Waterway Advisory Board requesting the City Administration to conduct research regarding current vegetation trimming and recommend and ongoing financing program to restore safety and navigability to the waterway and its tributaries.

Body

At the May 3, 2023, Waterway Advisory Board meeting, the Board discussed DERM’S permitting process and programs that are available as it relates to mangrove trimming as this has been a growing concern.  

 

 

A motion was made to “Set forth a resolution that the City administration undertake a survey of current vegetation trimming; needs to restore safety and navigability to the Waterway and its tributaries, estimate the cost of such a program on a continuing basis, recommend an ongoing financing mechanism for such a program on a continuing basis, and present recommendations to the City Commission for implementation.” The motion was seconded, voted upon, and adopted unanimously.
