A Resolution of the City of Coral Gables granting a one-day permit to the Globe Cafe to sell alcoholic beverages on Friday, May 15, 2009 from noon to midnight along the 300 block of Alhambra Circle between Salzedo and LeJeune during the CUBALIBRE event benefitting the Regis House, pursuant to Florida Department of Professional Regulation Requirements and City Special Events Committee provisions.

It is recommended that the Globe Cafe be permitted to sell alcholic beverages on Friday, May 15, 2009 from noon to midnight along the 300 block of Alhambra Circle between Salzedo and LeJeune during the CUBALIBRE event, pursuant to Florida Department of Professional Regulation Requirements and City Special Event Committee provisions.

 

Explanation

For the fifth consecutive year, The Globe Cafe has utilized Alhambra Circle as part of CUBALIBRE event. It is proposed that Alhambra Circle be closed from midnight Friday morning, May 15, 2009 through midnight Saturday morning, May 15, 2009 for set up, the event, and breakdown.

 

Additional police officers and on-duty custodial staff will be retained by the Globe Cafe to control crowd and litter. Past results of crowd control and litter have been very successful and no problems are anticipated. Noise concerns have been addressed and any problems arising will lead to termination of the event. City will continue to monitor noise levels at the event.

 

This event has been reviewed by the City's Special Event Committee.
