Congratulations to Firefighter Peter Bernstein, recipient of the City of Coral Gables “Firefighter of the Month Award,” for the month of April 2021.

Firefighter Peter Bernstein has been selected April’s Firefighter of the Month for his outstanding display of individual initiative surpassing job requirements and for his concern for the public, specifically for the care of his neighbor. After his neighbor had hernia surgery, he took the initiative to check in on him. Firefighter Bernstein came to his aid when he called him in pain and had slipped and fell soiling himself on the way to the restroom. Firefighter Bernstein cleaned him up and put clean clothes on him and had him go to the hospital. Firefighter Bernstein saved his life because he had a gastrointestinal arterial bleed and lost 4 pints of blood. This was a selfless and unsolicited act and is a testament to his commitment to serve others. Firefighter Bernstein applies the same outstanding work ethic to all he does around the Fire Station and on Emergency and Non-Emergency calls.
Firefighter Peter Bernstein is well deserving of this honor and we congratulate him for his efforts.
