Title

A Resolution of the Waterway Advisory Board recommending the City Commission object to the water viewing area project at the US-1 bridge as part of Miami-Dade County's Underline Project; and requesting a 90-day extension to the U.S. Coast Guard to allow sufficient time to respond to public notice. 

Body

The Waterway Advisory Board’s (Board) purpose is to identify and recommend improvement opportunities with respect to Coral Gables Waterway and feels this motion is in line with the Board’s purpose.

 

During the Board’s January 8, 2025 meeting, the below motions were made relating to the US-1 bridge viewing area project by Miami-Dade County:

 

Mr. Galan motioned to request a 90-day extension for comments requested by the U.S. Coast Guard’s Public Notice to allow proper review of proposed pedestrian bridge height.   The motion was seconded by Mr. Nolan and unanimously approved.

 

Mr. Galan motioned to object to the County’s design for a viewing area due to safety, this is not in line with other city bridges with fishing restrictions and the County should implement new bridges to adapt to sea level rise conditions.   The motion was seconded by Mr. Nolan and unanimously approved.
