On April 10, 2010, an event sponsored by the University of Miami Counseling Center was held at the Rock, a meeting place at UM. This event is conducted throughout the nation and showcases a march in which male and female students and university staff walk a short distance in high heels. The purpose of the event is to promote education, awareness, prevention of rape, sexual assault, and gender and relationship domestic violence. The Counseling Center would like to present the proceeds from the march to the Victim Witness Unit, to provide basic needs for victims and support educational and awareness programs.
