Waterway Advisory Board Meeting of March 4, 2026.

The meeting was called to order at 5:30 p.m. with quorum present. The February 4, 2026, meeting minutes were approved unanimously. • Marine Patrol Report: Marine activity remained low, though increased waterway usage is expected with improving weather. The previously grounded sailboat was removed by Miami-Dade County. Marine Patrol reported 88 area checks, 5 citations, 6 land-based traffic stops, 3 water-based stops, and 3 marine inspections. Procurement for two new marine vessels remains on schedule. • Project Updates: - Riviera Outfall Water Quality Removal Device remains in the permitting process with Miami-Dade County. • Mangrove pruning efforts are moving forward through procurement, with ongoing discussion regarding maintenance responsibilities and permitting requirements. • No updates were received from Miami-Dade County regarding the Underlying Bridge Project. • Installation of “No Fishing” signs at bridges is nearing completion. • Staff will seek updated information on the Lejeune Bridge Replacement project. • Planning continues for the Oasis Water Quality Pilot Study. • Lejeune/Cocoplum Bridge improvements remain in the preliminary stages pending survey data. • Blue Road Park (David Lawrence Family Park) officially opened March 14, providing public waterfront access and recreational amenities. • New Business: - The Board reviewed and finalized revisions to the State of the Waterway Report and discussed providing regular updates to the City Commission. • Follow-up was requested regarding remaining improvements to the canoe launch at Ruth Bryan Owen Park. • The Board discussed sediment buildup in portions of the waterway and the potential need for future dredging efforts. The meeting adjourned at 6:36 p.m.
