The city received a proposal to exhibit a mural by artist Eduardo Kobra on private property from the property developers of The Plaza.
The request is for approval of installation on property that is in a prominent, accessible area adjacent to, and east of, the Lowes Hotel entrance at 2950 Coconut Grove Drive.
The artwork is a painted mural representing iconic singers similar in style and scale to other works by the artist.
Funding for the artwork, exhibition, installation, permits, related fees, and de-installation are provided through private funds of the requestor.
The Arts Advisory Panel voted unanimously (7-0) to recommend approval to the Cultural Development Board at their meeting on October 2, 2024.
The Cultural Development Board voted (7-0) to recommend approval to the City Commission at their meeting on October 15, 2024.
