Approval of Minutes:
The minutes of the January 8, 2008 meeting were approved as presented upon motion by Mr. Stieglitz, and carried unanimously.
Red-Light Cameras:
An update on the process of installing Red-Light Cameras in the city was given, with discussion relative to the Procurement/RFP process.
Committee Publicity
: Discussion relative to Mr. Saks’ presentation to the City Commission, efforts to increase publicity, and future of the Committee.
Non-Violence Project:
Appearance of Diane Landsberg, Executive Director of the Non-Violence Project, to discuss the Project’s purpose and “Challenge Day” events.
Orduna
Crime Watch Director Kiel gave an update on Crime Watch’s efforts to facilitate neighborhood involvement following the complaint of criminal activity in said area.
Ponce de Leon Boulevard:
Discussion relative to the complaint of criminal activity in the area of Ponce de Leon Boulevard north from Bird Road.
Public Comments:
Appearance of David Hays in support of the Public Safety Committee.
City Commission Update: None.
City Projects Update: None.
Fire Department:
Deputy Chief Stolzenberg discussed the AED Ordinance.
Police Department:
Chief Hammerschmidt discussed the building implosion scheduled for March 30, 2008.
Next Meeting:
The next meeting of the Public Safety Committee was set for May 13, 2008, 6:00 pm, at a location to be determined.
