Title
Presentation of excerpts from the Landscape Beautification Advisory Board Meeting of March 5, 2009 requesting the following action:

That the City Commission accept the butterfly sculpture for placement inside the Coral Gables Branch Library and that the details of installation be worked out by the Library Advisory Board.

Body
At the November 12, 2008 meeting of the Library Advisory Board, in furtherance of their support of the maintenance of the Coral Gables Branch Library Butterfly Garden, the Coral Gables Garden Club offered to donate a small butterfly sculpture to the City for display in the lobby of the Library.  The Library Advisory Board subsequently forwarded the issue to the City's Cultural Development Board as proscribed by Ordinance.  The Cultural Development Board in turn referred it to the Landscape Beautification Advisory Board for their recommendation to the City Commission.  At the March 5, 2009, meeting of that Board, the following motion was presented and passed unanimously:

"Recommend that the City Commission accept the butterfly sculpture for placement inside the library and that the details of installation be worked out by the Library Advisory Board."

Staff has determined that the costs of a protective enclosure for the sculpture valued at $3,500.00 would be no more than $1,800.00 and that funding for this expenditure could be drawn from existing budgets.
