Title
A Resolution authorizing expenditures in the amount of $12,900.00 from previously encumbered State Forfeited Asset Funds to acquire the Crime Analysis Plus software module from SUNGARD HTE Open Software Solutions Inc.(OSSI).
Body
Pursuant to the provisions of Florida State Statute 932.7055 (5), the Coral Gables Police Department must annually allocate 15% of the assets that are forfeited as a result of criminal investigations toward the facilitation and/or support of school resource officer, crime prevention, safe neighborhood, or drug abuse education programs.
Accordingly, the Police Department has identified that the acquisition of the Crime Analysis Plus software module would significantly enhance and/ or add to the Department's existing crime prevention efforts and programs. This Analysis Plus software module allows law enforcement agencies to perform predictive future-crime analysis and identify high crime areas by virtue of its capability to "mine" data from existing CAD and RMS software modules. This software module also has the capability to automate e-mail notification alerts to officers and detectives for the possibility of a specific type of crime during a certain period of time. This software would also enhance the ability of the Police Department to more clearly display and map crime and incident data patterns for presentation to the public.
The Forfeited Asset Fund Committee met on January 7th, 2009, and approved the request to distribute these previously encumbered funds for the acquisition of this software module.
