Congratulations to Lieutenant Peter Bernstein, recipient of the City of Coral Gables “Firefighter of the Month Award,” for the month of January 2026.

Lieutenant Bernstein has been selected as January’s Firefighter of the Month for his outstanding display of individual initiative surpassing job requirements and expectations, specifically for his hard work and dedication to the department.
Lt. Bernstein has been an essential component of our department by giving his time in the Health & Wellness Initiative as well as taking a leadership role with the Peer Support Program for the past few years. Both programs have been key in the mental health and wellness of each member of the department. With so many tragedies happening in our world, these two programs have been utilized now, more than ever.
Due to his outstanding work ethic and dedication to the department, Lieutenant Bernstein is nominated Firefighter of the month for January 2026.
