The Junior Orange Bowl International Tennis Championship is a long-term event within the overall Junior Orange Bowl Festival. The event uses three (3) competition sites within the city and brings in a large number of international participants and spectators. One of the primary competition sites is the University of Miami Tennis facility. This facility abuts San Amaro Drive, a metered city street.
A letter from Barbara Waters, Tennis Co-Chairman requesting the waiver of any payment for parking meters is attached. The request is for thirty (30) metered spaces. The standard fee for thiry (30) meter spaces for eight (8) days is $2,400.00. Section 74-140 (f) of the City Code states that any request for a waiver of payment for parking meters shall be made directly to the City Commission.
