Title
Resolution urging Miami-Dade County to implement comprehensive amendments to its parking fine schedule and urging the Florida Legislature to amend the Florida Statutes in order to increase state penalties for various parking violations.

Body
On August 5, 2010, the Miami-Dade County League of Cities, Inc. passed Resolution 2010-6 asking Miami-Dade County and the Florida Legislature to review current parking fines found in Section 30-388.32 of the Miami-Dade Code and Section 318.18 of the Florida Statutes.  Florida Statutes currently provide for a $100.00 fine for illegally parking in a space reserved for those with a disable parking permit.

Miami-Dade County Code Section 30-388.32 provides the fine schedule for most parking violations issued within the County.  The current fine schedule provides for initial fines between $18.00 and $33.00.  Approximately 75% of parking citations issued by parking enforcement officers are $18.00 violations.  After removal of fees taken by Miami-Dade County and the State, the City of Coral Gables receives $8.40 on each $18.00 citation that is collected.
