Lobbyist: N/A

Body

An inspection of the Bella Vista Pump Station identified a damaged pump base and deteriorated piping infrastructure that compromised the station's reliability and operational integrity. These conditions posed an immediate risk to public health, safety, and environmental compliance by increasing the potential for sanitary sewer overflows and disruption of essential wastewater services. To mitigate these risks, emergency repairs were undertaken to restore the pump station to proper operating condition and ensure the continued reliability of the sanitary sewer system.

Pursuant to Section 2-690 of the Procurement Code, entitled “Emergency Procurement,” the City Manager may authorize the emergency procurements of supplies, services, or construction when there exists an immediate threat to public health, welfare, or safety or to prevent or minimize serious disruption of government services.

Fiscal Impact

The necessary repairs and use of emergency procurement minimized the impact of scheduled programming of this sewer pump station.
