LIBRARY HISTORY: Gendry Bossano distributed Art at the Library, the Winter 2009 edition brochures, which feature an article on the Pancoast event. Gendry reported that she had received a list of most of the items that will be displayed at the event and only a few items are not in the Library System’s possession since they are still on display elsewhere. Carmen Martinez’ class at the Youth Center will be making a tile mural and will be donating it to the library. It was noted that a “Save-the-Date” email blast had been sent out by the Miami-Dade Public Library System which featured the same design as the invitation postcard that is being printed. A list of dignitaries was discussed and Victoria Galan made note of the addresses that Kendell needs and will get them to her. Nancy Leslie reported that she had announced the event at the Coral Gables Garden Club Board meeting and a notice will included in the Garden Club’s January newsletter. Gendry Bossano noted that the Library System has included information on the event on their website in the Events Calendar. Regarding the reception, Ileana Davis reported that she had a difficult time finding a caterer. She received a good response from Delius Shirley at Ortanique and expects to hear from him again next week. Kendell Turner asked how the $150 available from the Library System could be spent. Denise Delgado stated that receipts submitted up to the $150 limit will be handled by the Library System. Sylvia Mora-Oña stated she would like to have the food situation finalized within the next 2 weeks and will meet with Ileana Davis, Gendry Bossano, and Dan Keys regarding the details. Discussion was held as to the order of events for the reception. It was noted that the county will have a photographer on hand. Gendry Bossano brought the rendering of the library back with her today, but the frame and glass were not with it. Sylvia Mora-Oña stated that the Miami-Dade Public Library System would prepare the rendering for the show.

LANDSCAPE MAINTENANCE/BUTTERFLY GARDEN: Dan Keys asked Denise Delgado how to handle the donation of the butterfly sculpture by the Coral Gables Garden Club to the Library System. She stated that it would be the responsibility of the branch that received it. Dan Keys stated that he will work with the Coral Gables Garden Club to get the donation accepted by the City of Coral Gables or the Miami-Dade Public Library System. Sylvia Mora-Oña stated that she and Denise Delgado will speak to Raymond Santiago about the donation of the butterfly sculpture.

ANNOUNCEMENTS: Kendell Turner announced that the Coral Gables Gazette now has the correct day and time for the Library Advisory Board meeting in their Municipal Meetings list.
Kendell Turner announced that the Miami-Dade Public Library System’s Make-A-Bookmark contest had been won by Coral Gables resident, Erica Scott. She was the winner for the Coral Gables Branch.
Kendell Turner announced that Belkys Perez from the Public Affairs Dept. is planning to interview two people regarding The Pancoast Family Legacy Celebrating a Tradition event on Friday, January 16th at the Coral Gables Police Station.
Kendell Turner brought several Coral Living magazines for board members and showed the article on page 23 covering The Pancoast Family Legacy Celebrating a Tradition event.
Kendell Turner announced that Belkys Perez will also be doing a press release for the event. Victoria Galan stated that she will also be writing a press release and offered to get it to Gloria Burnes by Friday.
