A Resolution of the City Commission authorizing the execution of an agreement for sewer connection for property located outside the City’s sewer district at 545-547 Menendez Ave, Coral Gables, Florida into the City of Coral Gables wastewater collection and transmission system, subject to the requirements of the Public Works Department, as provided under Chapters 62 and 78 of the City Code, Ordinance Nos. 2007-29 and 2009-39 and Resolution No. 2008-07; and provided that the executed agreement be made part of this resolution.

Riviera Gables, LLC is requesting authorization for a sanitary sewer connection to serve a duplex located at 545-547 Menendez Avenue. The property lies outside the City limits and will discharge into the City of Coral Gables’ wastewater collection and transmission system, specifically into Pump Station City 5. The request is subject to the requirements set forth in Chapters 62 and 78 of the City Code, Ordinance Nos. 2007-29 and 2009-39, and Resolution No. 2008-07.
The Miami-Dade Water and Sewer Department will issue a release of service for the property. The Miami-Dade Department of Regulatory and Economic Resources (RER) has confirmed that the receiving pump station, all downstream pump stations, and the treatment plant have sufficient capacity to support the proposed flow.
Riviera Gables, LLC has agreed to comply with all applicable requirements of Ordinance Nos. 2007-29 and 2009-39, including City Code Section 78-106, and Resolution No. 2008-07. The connection will be formalized through an agreement based on the Letter of Agreement submitted by the owner, dated August 20, 2024, subject to approval by the City Attorney.
The estimated average daily flow is 300 GPD, with a peaking factor of 4.45 (in accordance with Ten State Standards), resulting in a peak flow of 1,335 GPD. The estimated sewer connection fee is $2,803.50 and will be paid to the City upon execution of the agreement.
Additional requirements include:
• A Maintenance or Surety Bond equal to five percent (5%) of the construction cost, to remain in force in perpetuity or until the connection is no longer required;
• Liability insurance as required by Resolution No. 2008-07, naming the City as an additional insured and covering potential damage resulting from failure of the private system;
• Submission of final construction plans and certifications for approval by the City’s Public Works Department and Miami-Dade RER;
• Acquisition of all required permits.
Fiscal Impact
N/A Owner shall be responsible for sewer connection maintenance.
