NEW BUSINESS:
ARTS ADVISORY PANEL CHAIR AND VICE-CHAIR NOMATIONS
Dr. Kolasiński made a motion to appoint Dr. Deupi as Chair. Ms. Miyar seconded the motion, which passed unanimously by voice vote.
Mr. Guerrier made a motion to appoint Dr. Kolasiński as Vice Chair. Ms. Miyar seconded the motion, which passed unanimously by voice vote.
CULTURAL DEVELOPMENT BOARD & ARTS ADVISORY PANEL ANNUAL REPORT
Mr. Guerrier made a motion to accept the 2022-2023 Cultural Development Board and Art Advisory Panel Annual Report. Dr. Deupi seconded the motion which passed unanimously by voice vote.
ART IN PUBLIC PLACES WAIVER REQUEST: 211 SANTILLLANE - SANTIAGO PINYOL

OLD BUSINESS:

ART IN PUBLIC PLACES UPDATES:
• Staff discussed the status of private development public art initiative including installation of the KAWS sculpture at The Plaza, and The Village’s decision to remove their waiver request and not proceed with the R & R Studio proposal.
• Staff requested Panel members to consider recognized artists to recommend for permanent art installations in Ponce Circle Park. Staff discussed a possible temporary public art exhibition for the Centennial.
• Police & Fire Headquarters - memorial sculpture installation has been moved to the fall.
• Zilia Sánchez - sculpture installation scheduled within the next month.
• Art Basel program - will celebrate the Zilia Sanchez artwork.
• Centennial Commemorative Art - eleven artists have expressed interest and Letters of Agreement have been issued. A community meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, October 25 at 7:30 p.m.
CITY COMMISSION ITEMS:
• Cultural Development Board item encouraging Ponce Circle Park completion with the inclusion of public art infrastructure will be presented on October 24th.
• Private development AiPP fee waiver request by Alta is being presented on October 24th.
DISCUSSION ITEMS:
• Staff invited Panel members to attend an Underline update by Meg Daly at the October 17th Cultural Development Board meeting.
• Panel members asked about the regional artwork RFP, staff responded that there is interest in the country club as the location.
• Dr. Deupi announced that The Lowe Art Museum has an exhibition opening October 26th featuring John Miller, a neo-pop glass artist. In coordination with the exhibition, the city is participating in a city-wide scavenger hunt featuring mini glass burgers.
• Panel members asked about the sculpture installed on US 1 and Ponce De Leon that was not approved by the city for installation. Staff responded that the code is being reviewed to clarify the approval process for artworks installed on private property and visible to the public, further stating that someone from the City Attorney’s office will be invited to attend and provide an update at the next meeting.
