Resolution accepting the recommendation of the Chief Procurement Officer to award a contract for William H. Kerdyk Tennis Center Renovations and Storage / Bleachers Building to BMA Construction, Inc., pursuant to Section 2-828 of the Procurement Code and Invitation for Bid (IFB) 2009.08.20 in the amount of $148,775.00 (one hundred forty-eight thousand, seven hundred seventy-five dollars); further authorizing an appropriation of funds for this project.

This project at the William H. Kerdyk Tennis Center located at 1200 Anastasia Avenue in Coral Gables, FL consists of the construction of a new concrete-block-stucco storage-bleachers building which includes ornamental screens, trusses, barrel tile, roll-up coiling doors, pre-fabricated bleachers, louvers, painting and keystone moldings. The Tennis Center Building renovations consist of restoration of concrete and railings, painting, removing and replacing louvered frames doors.
On August 13, 2009, the Procurement Division of Finance formally advertised, issued and distributed the William H. Kerdyk Tennis Center Renovations and Storage / Bleachers Building Invitation for Bid (IFB) No. 2009.08.20. On August 27, 2009, a non-mandatory Pre-Bid Conference and site visit was held with sixteen (16) prospective bidders in attendance of the forty-one (41) contractors and subcontractors who downloaded the bid documents from the web-site or picked-up the bid documents from the Procurement Division of Finance.
On September 17, 2009, seven (7) bid responses were received and of those that responded six (6) responsive bids were submitted by BMA Construction Inc., Leadex Corporation, Wilham and Associates Inc., Bejar Construction, Dominion Builders, LLC and SA Consultants. One (1) bid submitted was determined to be nonresponsive from T&G Constructors. The lowest responsive responsible bidder for the William H. Kerdyk Tennis Center was BMA Construction, Inc. with their bid of $148,775.00 (one hundred forty-eight thousand, seven hundred seventy-five dollars), which is their base bid of $134,925.00, plus an add alternate in the amount of $13,850.00 for the replacement of five (5) louvered doors.
The City of Coral Gables has been allocated $148,775.00 from the Miami Dade County General Obligation Bond Fund for this project. That an appropriation of funds is hereby authorized for the William H. Kerdyk Tennis Center Renovations and Storage / Bleacher Building Project from the Miami Dade General Obligation Bond Fund Account No. 380-1500-572-63-06.
