Communications Committee Meeting of June 21, 2007
Body
[The minutes from the May meeting were circulated for approval. Motion: David Stiefel motioned to approve the May meeting minutes. Katherine deBlij seconded the motion and it was passed unanimously.

Trolley Manager Ed Cox discussed the proposed advertisement program for the interior of the Trolleys.

Resident Connie Washburn spoke to the Communications Committee to initiate an educational campaign about the greening of the Gables.

Apolinar Ayanes from the IT Department presented changes done to the Disability pages on the web.

Higgins Fallon informed that, at the last Commission Meeting, a discussion was held regarding the annual report. She played a video of that discussion. Stiefel clarified that the annual report appeared two years ago in between meetings of the Communications Committee. The report was not created by the Communications Committee, but at the request of the City Manager. Last year's report was created following the image of the first issue.

Higgins Fallon presented a new outline for the annual report that includes more financial information and less narrative. Committee members liked the new annual report outline.

Motion: David Stiefel made a motion to accept the new outline format of the annual report, asking the Communications staff to inquire from the Economic Development staff whether a longer-term brochure about the community will be needed for business development purposes to complement this new format of the annual report. Richard Chimelis seconded the motion and it was passed unanimously.

Stiefel had a question about what type of feedback the City is getting from citizens about what the Communications Division is doing. Higgins Fallon replied that she gets daily feedback from citizens who react to the news and information sent out by her office. Stiefel wondered if a communications survey is needed to gather public input of whether all the efforts from Communications are being appreciated. Higgins Fallon will work on drafting a survey that can be posted on the Web.

With no other business to discuss, the meeting was adjourned.
