Title

Congratulations to Troy Hall who holds the title of Golf Course and Parks Superintendent, recipient of the "Employee of the Month Award," for the month of May 2021.

Body

The nomination was submitted by Fred Couceyro, Community Recreation Director, who stated the following:

“I am nominating Troy due to the exemplary work that he has performed in his service with the City.  Troy was selected as the Superintendent right as the Granada Golf Course was completing its renovation.  Tory overhauled the entire course and began several new methods and techniques to include the maintenance of the course.  Troy continues to go above and beyond his duties to provide exceptional service and also provides substantial savings to the City.  One example of this is the Capital project for renovating the irrigation system of the Granada Golf Course.  Troy used his expertise to complete this project in-house with the manufacturer which saw cost savings by not having to utilize a general contractor or other capital improvement services.  Troy continues to look at innovative ways to manage the golf course and parks.  Some of these innovations include the use of environmentally friendly chemicals, soil and surface testing for safer methods of pest control and fertilization, and the use of different staff cycles to provide greater maintenance service in the parks.  Troy's efforts are not only appreciated by his superiors.  He is a favorite of all the golfers at the Granada Golf Course, who always notify the Department Administration of the wonderful job Troy is doing maintaining the golf course.

During the pandemic, Troy has had to overcome many obstacles including increased Covid related maintenance requirements, staff attrition, and a reduction in budget. In spite of this, Troy has managed to perform the new the maintenance requirements and continue to provide quality service not only to the golf course and parks but also in providing service to the over 110 dog waste stations throughout the City.

As the Director of the Community Recreation Department, I enthusiastically nominate Troy Hall as the Employee of the Month.”
