At the January 25, 2022, City Commission meeting, the Commission approved the transition of management and operations of the Coral Gables Golf and Country Club to the Community Recreation Department. The City assumed management of the facility on May 1, 2022. Due to the urgency and number of critical operational matters requiring immediate attention, Bid Waiver BW 2022-047 was approved to allow the timely procurement of the supplies, equipment, and labor services necessary to operate the facility.
Following the transition, the City entered into a Professional Services Agreement with Hernas Salgado Corp. to provide labor services supporting venue. Since that time, Hernas Salgado Corp. has continued to provide these services in support of the successful operation of the Coral Gables Golf and Country Club.
The Community Recreation Department recommends extending the existing Professional Services Agreement through September 30, 2027, to ensure continuity of operations while the Community Recreation Department evaluates new operational needs, labor, and service levels to develop the appropriate scope for a long-term competitive solicitation.
Approval of this contract modification will allow the continued provision of labor services through September 30, 2027. The estimated cost of the one-year contract extension is $250,000, which is included in the department's approved operating budget.
Section 2-764(b) of the City of Coral Gables Procurement Code, entitled "Approval of Change Orders and Contract Modifications," provides that the City Commission, upon recommendation of the City Manager, shall approve change orders or contract modifications that exceed twenty-five percent (25%) of the original contract amount for supplies and services.
