Retirement Board Meeting of October 30, 2008

1. Roll call.
2. The Board Attorney Alan Greenfield updated the Board on current pending items.
3. The Administrative Manager's Report was reviewed and accepted.
4. The Board approved the following applications for Retirement benefits, DROP benefits, and Vested Retirement benefits.
Retirement Benefits:
Retirement application of Eleanore Lyons of the Police Department, 20 years, 6 months, No Option, effective October 1, 2008.
Retirement application of Brigitte Hodge of the Building and Zoning Department, 22 years, No Option, effective November 1, 2008.
DROP Benefits:
DROP application of Norman Blackwood of the Automotive Department. Effective date October 1, 2008.
DROP application of Marc Stolzenberg of the Fire Department. Effective date November 1, 2008.
Vested Retirement Benefits:
Yamilee Dubois, Human Resources Department (12 years, 3 months), effective at age 52, effective date July 1, 2018.
5. The Board approved the approval of the continued disability benefits for Tyra Hearns.
6. The following invoices were approved for payment:
Carlson and Lewittes/Henry Dressler (expert for important testimony & insights) invoices for costs and expenses in the amount of $12,350.00. These invoices are in accordance with the contract between Curtis Carlson and Coral Gables Retirement System signed on June 10, 2004. Specifically Section 8 "Client agrees to pay all costs, such as court filing fees, mediator fees, subpoenas, trial graphic presentations, depositions and court reporters, transcripts, reports, investigation, expert witness fees, witness statements, photocopying, long distance telephone calls, travel, computer research, and other expenses directly incurred in investigation or litigating the claims."
The Bogdahn Group invoice #3293 dated September 30, 2008 in the amount of $33,750.00 for consulting service fees for third quarter 2008 (July 1 to September 30, 2008). This invoice is in accordance with the contract between The Bogdahn Group and Coral Gables Retirement System signed on June 1, 2008.
Carlson & Lewittes, P.A. invoice no. 11224 dated October 7, 2008 in the amount of $9,811.32 and invoice no. 11201 dated July 18, 2008 in the amount of $2,308.06 for costs and expenses. These invoices are in accordance with the contract between Curtis Carlson and Coral Gables Retirement System signed on June 10, 2004. Specifically Section 8 "Client agrees to pay all costs, such as court filing fees, mediator fees, subpoenas, trial graphic presentations, depositions and court reporters, transcripts, reports, investigation, expert witness fees, witness statements, photocopying, long distance telephone calls, travel, computer research, and other expenses directly incurred in investigation or litigating the claims."
Alan E. Greenfield invoice dated October 20, 2008 for legal services from June 11, 2008 to October 20, 2008 in the amount of $9,675.00.
7. The Board approved the recommendation of the Administrative Manager to approve the Service Connected Disability application of Eugenio Arencibia based upon the doctors' reports submitted by the applicant and Board appointed doctor.
8. The Board approved the recommendation of the Administrative Manager to approve the Service Connected Disability application of Jose Torres based upon the doctors' reports submitted by the applicant and Board appointed doctor.
9. Investment Issues were discussed.
10. Old business was discussed.
11. New business was discussed
