Title

An Ordinance of the City Commission amending Chapter 22 "Emergency Services" to amend Article II "Burglary, Fire and Robbery Alarms" of the City Code; updating definitions and requirements for alarm systems and providing for an alternative representative to perform certain requirements on behalf of the City's Finance Department; providing for a severability clause, repealer provision, codification, and providing for an effective date.

Body

Chapter 22 of the City of Coral Gables Code outlines the processes and procedures regarding registration of alarms for both residential and commercial properties within the City of Coral Gables.   It also sets out the process by which fees are charged for false alarms.

Changes to the existing ordinance are necessary in order to clarify certain existing definitions, add definitions for items that are missing, and clarify certain procedures of the registration and false alarms fee collection process. This ordinance also reinforces the requirement of the annual registration process. Additionally, the City is considering outsourcing the billing and collections functions and annual registration process to improve overall collection efforts.
