The City of Coral Gables Community Recreation Department has successfully earned re-accreditation from the Commission for Accreditation of Park and Recreation Agencies (CAPRA), marking the Department’s fifth successful accreditation process and reaffirming its continued commitment to excellence in parks and recreation services.
CAPRA accreditation is recognized as a national standard of excellence for park and recreation agencies. The accreditation process provides agencies with a comprehensive framework for evaluating their operations, programs, services, and management practices while providing the public with assurance that the agency is operating in accordance with nationally recognized best practices.
To achieve accreditation, agencies must provide documented evidence demonstrating compliance with 154 national standards encompassing all areas of parks and recreation operations, including administration, planning, personnel, finance, programming, facility management, and maintenance. During the re-accreditation process, agencies must demonstrate not only continued compliance with these standards but also their ongoing commitment to effective performance and continuous improvement.
As part of its 2026 re-accreditation assessment, the Coral Gables Community Recreation Department successfully demonstrated compliance with all applicable national standards, achieving an outstanding score of 100%.
