NEW BUSINESS:
a. AIPP WAIVER REQUEST, GABLES LIVING
The Panel received preliminary proposal materials by artists Gustavo Velez and Sabrina Yanguas for the Gables Living development project in anticipation of a Request for Waiver of the Art in Public Places required fee. Vivian Salcedo addressed the Panel and provided details about the development and the preliminary proposals. The development team also noted a possibility of working on a piece through the University of Miami.

b. ART BASEL - 2023
Following discussion of the City Commission’s approval of this year’s Art Basel project (below), Mr. Guerrier suggested that the Panel think about the Art Basel project for next year so there is time for completion of a piece. (The item was then added as New Business.)

Ms. Miyar made a motion recommending a Call for Art as a Request for Qualifications (RFQ) and Request for Proposal (RFP) process for the City’s Art Basel 2023 program, further recommending that the call be focused on regional artists for a permanent acquisition and budget of $200,000 (two hundred thousand dollars). Ms. Incer seconded the motion, which passed unanimously.

OLD BUSINESS:
a. PRIVATE DEVELOPMENT - ARTIST RECOMMENDATIONS
Panel member continued their discussion of the use of the pre-qualified list of artists.

ART IN PUBLIC PLACES UPDATES:
The Panel was informed that the Cultural Development Board did not accept the recommendation of the Panel to switch out the Jean Ward sculptures at Ingraham Park with the restored sculptures, and instead recommended returning the ones to the library and restoring the ones at Ingraham Park to be returned there. Ms. Cathers stated that it is likely the Board will discuss options again.
