Title

A Resolution recommending approval of additional design services to AECOM Technical Services, Inc., in the amount of $290,000 for increased square footage, construction cost, and design schedule duration to the new Public Safety Building.

Body

On December 6, 2016, the City Commission authorized negotiations with AECOM Technical Services, Inc., selected as a result of an RFQ process, as the design consulting firm for a new Public Safety Building. The purpose of this contract was to hire a qualified design consultant to prepare and provide all plans and construction administration services, to include programming, schematic design, design development, construction documents, and construction administration for a new Public Safety Building.  It was anticipated that any changes to the scope of services may have a corresponding change in fees to the City.

On March 28, 2017, the City Commission approved a contract with AECOM Technical Services, Inc. for Public Safety Building Design Consulting Services.

AECOM is requesting additional design services in the amount of $290,000 for scope revisions to the project based on added program square footage, increased construction budget, and extended design schedule duration. The building square footage grew from 161,000 SF to 189,000 SF and the cost increased from $37M to $52M.

AECOM’s fees are aligned with the previous/existing pricing structure when they were originally awarded the services.

The Public Works Department recommends approval of this request.
