Title

Congratulations to Walter Lesser, who holds the title Chief Building Inspector, recipient of the "Part-Time Employee of the Quarter Award," for the second quarter in 2018.

Body

The nomination was submitted by Charles Wu who stated the following:

“Walter has been a part time construction site inspector for the Public Works Department since June of 2016. His principal job is to assist with the site inspection of the Giralda/Miracle Mile Streetscape Project. Before that assignment, Walter was for many years the zoning inspector for the Planning and Zoning Division. That experience and knowledge with his people skills brought to bear this high profile city public works project.  The Streetscape Project is a complicated and complex project involving numerous disciplines with an intricate design of many components. Walter's knack for details and perfection proved ideal for the job. Walter gets to the job site at 6:00 am everyday monitoring contract workers, overseeing site work, assuring downtown merchants, liaising with the project manager and outside agencies, documenting work progress and ensuring traffic and pedestrian safety.  While the project is now substantially complete a year and a half later, Walter is still hard at work on numerous punch-list items to make sure the work is done to the City Beautiful world-class standards.  The long process of having such a challenging project completed is in no small measure thanks to his daily efforts for the past 18 months.

We recognize Walter for his dedication and hard work that makes the City Beautiful indeed beautiful and look forward to his continued contribution to future public works projects in the city.”
