Title

Congratulations to Firefighter Albert Coscia, recipient of the City of Coral Gables “Firefighter of the Month Award,” for the month of April 2018.

.Body

Firefighter Albert Coscia, has been selected April’s Firefighter of the Month for his outstanding display of individual initiative surpassing job requirements and expectations, specifically for his knowledge of the Engine and how it operates. FF Coscia seems to be a walking encyclopedia of knowledge when it comes to driving and pumping the Engine and he loves to share his knowledge with all new Firefighters and Drivers. In these last few months, we’ve experienced a number of issues with Engine 1 and before we knew it FF Coscia was either able to troubleshoot the problem or created the proper documentation to resolve the problem.  Furthermore, he volunteered to be the Trainer who would teach all new probationary and new Driver Engineers everything he knew about the Engine. Since there is a lot of information to facilitate, FF Coscia would spend extra time in the morning going over the function of the Engine to accomplish this.

Despite the overwhelming amount of work that everyone has to do, FF Coscia consistently finds ways to help his co-workers and keep training with all Driver Engineers. His willingness to assist others and his commitment to educating all firefighters is unequaled. The Department’s Training Division have all noted that FF Coscia is thorough in his training, provides great detail about the subject matter, and he was asked to accomplish a Department wide training on the new Ladder Truck which was placed in service this past year. His attention to detail, including his diligence to ensure all loose ends are completed, are worthy of this recognition.
