Title

A Resolution approving establishment of a fiscal sponsorship account with the Coral Gables Community Foundation to be used for the administration of monies related to the "Venice in the Gables Community Art Project" and advancement of the arts in Coral Gables.

Body

In August, 2017, the City Commission approved a public project series of artistically painted Venetian style posts for temporary exhibition to celebrate downtown and the recent completion of the streetscape project.

The Coral Gables Community Foundation is the non-profit partner of the (now titled) “Venice in the Gables” community art project. As a partner, the Foundation will help promote and celebrate the project. To further assist, the Coral Gables Community Foundation has offered to act as a fiscal sponsor for the easy acceptance of donations and project expenses.

Resolution 2017-243 approved use of art acquisition funds to be reimbursed from sponsorship fees. The Historical Resources and Cultural Arts department requests these funds to be transferred to the Coral Gables Community Foundation as needed to establish the “Coral Gables Arts Advancement Fund”, to pay expenses related to the “Venice in the Gables” project, and be used toward the advancement of the arts in Coral Gables.
