Firefighter Carlos Eguiluz has been selected April’s Firefighter of the Month for his outstanding display of individual initiative surpassing job requirements and expectations, specifically for his role in making Coral Gables Fire Rescue a leading agency in the Vehicle Extrication field.
Firefighter Eguiluz has had a long productive career in the Fire Service, particularly serving as the department’s SRT Team Coordinator for 25 years. He dedicated countless hours mentoring 37 different department members through the team process which consists of training for the improvement of such categories as scene approach and size up, incident command, scene safety, vehicle preparation, space creation, technical rescue, patient safety and care, and time management. Additionally, during his tenure Coral Gables SRT won one World Title, one International Title, 6 Southeast Regional Titles, a Northeast Regional Title and multiple top 3 finishes at world, national and regional events.
More importantly, Firefighter Eguiluz has always shared his knowledge with his fellow firefighters in the department as well as with firefighters from the tri-county area and from different parts of the USA, Canada, Europe, Africa, and Latin America.
Firefighter Eguiluz’s participation, professionalism, dedication, and passion for vehicle rescue have made him an invaluable member of the department who has truly made a difference.
