Brief History
On September 23rd, 2014, the City Commission approved the award of the renovation project to State Contract and Engineering, Inc. in the amount of $2,177,070.
On October 28th, 2014 the City Commission asked staff to revisit the scope of work of the approved project with the goal of redirecting savings to a future project involving the Tennis Center building improvements.
Staff met with both the contractor and the consultant, and was able to arrive at a reduced project scope and cost by making the following changes:
· Lighting - new poles and light fixtures will be provided with recreational level lighting on all courts;
· Pavilion Building - deleted building and replaced with two-sided entrance monument sign;
· Entrance Walkway - north bank of tennis courts will remain at present location and new pedestrian entrance will be shifted to the west of court #7;
· Tennis Courts - all courts will be resurfaced and receive 4-coat Laycold cushion system, new nets and accessories;
· Plaza Area - existing plaza will remain; concrete deck will be repaired and receive a new cementitious coating; built-in picnic tables and seating will be removed and replaced with park furniture. Additional modification of the seat wall surrounding the tree will be considered;
· Practice Wall - existing wall will remain; cracks will be repaired and wall will be painted; area in front of wall will receive Laycold paint finish;
· Fencing - vertical posts will remain and receive an electrostatic paint finish; damaged or bent fence support members and all mesh and windscreens will be replaced;
· Drinking Fountains - 3 chilled water drinking fountains will be provided at the court shelters;
· Parking Lot and Entry Driveway- new concrete curb; asphalt milling and resurfacing; new pavement markings, signage and car bumpers;
