Firefighter David Vargas has been selected December's Firefighter of the Month for his acts of concern and consideration in dealing with the public, specifically his involvement with the Disability Initiative Group (DIG), an organization that coordinates the placement of animals in shelters if their owners have to be placed in the hospital. Firefighter Vargas has dedicated many hours of his personal time to this organization and is working on bringing this service to the citizens of Coral Gables. Firefighter Vargas' initiative and dedication to the community serves as an inspiration to all of us.
