Title
Resolution authorizing the City Manager to execute Supplemental No. Two to the Florida Department of Transportation Joint Participation Agreement (JPA) No. APF47 entered into June 16, 2009, between the Florida Department of Transportation and the City of Coral Gables to remove the requirement for low floors in trolley procurement specifications and extend the time for use of financial assistance (in the amount of $377,000.00) for the purchase of two (2) new 30-foot long, heavy-duty, low-floor, replacement shuttle buses for the Coral Gables Trolley Program.
Body
On June 16, 2009, pursuant to Resolution 2009-122 the City of Coral Gables entered into a Joint Participation Agreement (JPA) with the Florida Department of Transportation for the purchase of two (2) new 30-foot long, heavy-duty, low-floor, replacement shuttle buses for the Coral Gables Trolley Program. These new trolleys are needed in order for the Coral Gables Trolley Program to maintain current levels of service and provide for efficient and dependable transportation. The estimated purchase price of two (2) trolleys is $755,282.00. This JPA provides 50% matching funds to the City in an amount up to $377.641.00.
The original JPA requires that trolley procurement specifications be for low floor trolleys only. No acceptable low floor “classic trolley” manufacturers have been identified. This supplemental allows Coral Gables to create specifications that allow manufacturers of low floor or standard classic trolleys to respond to our trolley procurement. In addition, the supplemental extends the completion date for purchase of the trolleys from June 30, 2012 to June 30, 2013.
