Brief History
One of the responsibilities of the City's Cultural Development Board is to recommend to the City Commission the annual allocation of cultural grant funding. The City Commission, on September 25, 2012, budgeted $135,000 for cultural grant funding and indicated that $50,000 of that amount should be equally granted to Actors Playhouse and the Coral Gables Museum, both of which were to be eligible to apply for additional grant funding. On November 13, 2012, the Cultural Development Board reviewed and scored 29 applications for the remaining $85,000 City of Coral Gables Cultural Grants. Four of the applications were disqualified by the Board due to low scores. Proposed funding of the remaining 25 applicants is shown on Exhibit A attached to the proposed resolution.
