Summary of Meeting
The minutes from the May meeting were circulated for approval. Motion: Jerry Santeiro motioned to approve the May meeting minutes. Sam Joseph seconded the motion and it passed unanimously.
Higgins Fallon distributed the Financial Disclosure forms that are required to be submitted by Committee members every year. For those who have not filled the form, she will collect them and hand-deliver to City Clerk.
Higgins Fallon thanked Communications Committee members for their input and participation on the new website redesign and congratulated them for contributing to the shared success in receiving this year's Savvy Award from the City-County Communications and Marketing Association (3CMA).
Higgins Fallon also reported about the final budget hearing which is to take place on September 25th. The new fiscal year begins on October 1. Taxes are being reduced from a 5.869 millage to new rate of 5.669.
In addition, Higgins Fallon announced that the pickup truck issue is going to be decided by the voters on the November 6th election. Her office is also working on promoting the special event where Coral Gables residents can buy one, get two-free football UM tickets for the September 29th game.
Higgins Fallon showcased the latest production of Golden Gables. She asked if members knew of any senior residents who could be highlighted in upcoming productions. Members will send her some suggestions.
