Title
Resolution authorizing the sale of alcohol and the waiving of the cost of parking meter rentals after 5:30 p.m. on the 100 block of Giralda Avenue on the first Friday of each month from November 2012 through April 2013, for a total of six events, for the Giralda Under the Stars Street Festival, subject to Florida Department of Professional Regulation requirements.
Body
The Giralda Under the Stars program, started four years ago by the Business Improvement District, has been well received by the public and business community. Restaurants on the 100 block of Giralda Avenue strongly support this program, and they will set up dining tables in the public rights-of-way, sell alcohol, and provide music on November 2, 2012, December 7, 2012, January 4, 2013, February 1, 2013, March 1, 2013, and April 5, 2013.

In addition, the BID has requested a waiver of payment of parking meters for this event, which is estimated at $2,580.00. Section 74-140(f) of the City Code states that a request for a waiver of payment of parking meters shall be made directly to the City Commission. A letter from Mari Gallet, Executive Director of the Business Improvement District, requesting the waiver of payment for parking meters is attached. This request has been reviewed and approved by the City's Special Events Committee on October 5, 2012.
